From Rubble to Return

January – February 2016

There are two ideas presented here in this message title that need a bit of explaining… Rubble and Return. There is a Hebrew word for Return: T’shuvah. T’shuvah in it’s most literal sense means, to return. There is a physicality to the word, because it involves an actual turning. We are standing, here, and we TURN and the RE-Turn.  And what it means, what it describes is an environment or a people ‘being’ the way they were intended to be. Somewhere in you is the YOU, you were intended to be. And God calls us to return, to our true selves. Now, there’s the other word: Hareb. Hareb means Ruin. It’s the rubble. Hareb is desolate. It’s dry. It’s lifeless. Here’s what’s beautiful… God, speaks out of the Hareb. Out of the ruin. God meets us, in the desert. God comes to us in the rubble.
This is a 5-week series studying the book of Nehemiah, a cup bearer to a king, and this theme of going from the rubble of life and existence apart from Christ, and returning to all that God truly wants us to be in Him.
