ABOUT THIS SERIES
The Nonreligious Gospel
This series unpacks the “Nonreligious” Gospel of Jesus, as it’s presented through His conversation with the Pharisees in Matthew chapter 23.
If you’re a person who is considering Christianity, it clarifies some of what may be your greatest concerns regarding Christianity. But this will also be valuable for those who are trying to follow Jesus sincerely. The same thing Jesus was hoping to accomplish in this followers, if accomplished in us, will open new springs of life and excitement about what it means to follow Him.
This series will confront, head on, a pervasive attitude of many people who identify with Jesus – and yet it completely flies in the face of who Jesus wants us to be. The Matthew 23 Jesus, is a Jesus we don’t typically consider when we think about who He is and what He accomplishes for us. It’s the final week of His life before the cross. Jesus is in Jerusalem, and He has confronted and confused the religious elite from the very onset of His public ministry. Jesus intends to accomplish a few, very specific things:
- Open up connection with our Creator.
- Establish an understanding of who God is.
- And third, He desires to eliminate the trappings of empty religion.
